Science Fair Consulting Services
Welcome! My consulting service was created to help students navigate the science fair process with confidence. Whether you're just getting started, preparing a research proposal, polishing your paper, or getting ready for judging, my goal is to provide personalized guidance and mentorship every step of the way. Through proposal reviews, presentation coaching, mock judging, and more, I help students strengthen their projects and communicate their research effectively while ensuring that every project remains entirely student-driven.
Science fair has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life, opening doors to opportunities I never imagined possible. Through my own research, I've had the privilege of competing at some of the nation's most prestigious STEM competitions, including the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS), and the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS), along with numerous regional and state science fairs. At the same time, my path to these opportunities wasn't easy. I came from an underfunded high school science fair program with limited resources and very little mentorship. So much of what I learned came from asking questions, seeking out opportunities, and figuring things out along the way. I created this service because I want to be the mentor that I didn't have and help make high-level STEM opportunities feel more accessible for students everywhere!
I'd love to support you on your science fair journey! If you're interested in any of the services below or have questions about which option might be the best fit, please reach out to me at laasyaacharya@gmail.com.
Project Proposal & Planning
General Consultation & Q&A
$40 (30 minutes)
Not sure where to start? This session is designed for students and families who have questions about science fair, research competitions, or the research process in general. Whether you're deciding between project ideas, trying to understand competition requirements, or simply looking for guidance from someone who has been through the science fair journey, this is an opportunity to ask anything.
Research Question Development
$50 (40 minutes)
A strong project starts with a well-thought-out proposal. In this session, I'll review your research question, hypothesis, background information, and proposed methodology, providing detailed feedback on the clarity, feasibility, and overall strength of your plan. My role is to help you refine your ideas, identify potential challenges, and ensure that your proposal is organized and competition-ready before you begin your research.
Reading scientific literature can be intimidating, especially if it's your first time working with research papers. In this session, I'll teach you how to find credible sources, read journal articles efficiently, and organize the information you gather. We'll discuss how to identify important findings, recognize gaps in existing research, and use prior studies to strengthen the background and justification for your project.
Literature Review Guidance
$50 (30 minutes)
Science Fair Roadmap
$75 (60 minutes)
Science fair projects involve many moving pieces, and it can be difficult to know what should happen and when. Together, we'll create a personalized timeline that outlines important milestones, deadlines, and goals for each stage of your project. Whether you're just getting started or feeling overwhelmed, this session will provide a clear roadmap to help you stay organized and confidently navigate the science fair process.
Scientific Writing & Communication
Research Paper Review
$75
Communicating your research effectively is just as important as conducting it. During this asynchoronous review, I'll provide detailed feedback on the organization, clarity, and scientific writing in your paper. I'll discuss ways to strengthen your explanations, improve the flow of your writing, and ensure that your research is presented in a professional and easy-to-understand manner while still maintaining your authentic voice as a researcher.
Abstract Review & Editing
$25
An abstract is often the first thing judges and reviewers read, making it one of the most important pieces of your project. In this asynchoronous session, I'll provide feedback on the structure, clarity, and conciseness of your abstract to ensure that it effectively communicates your research question, methodology, findings, and significance. The goal is to help you make a strong first impression and clearly convey the impact of your work.
Poster & Display Board Critique
$60
Your poster should tell the story of your project in a clear, visually engaging way. I'll asynchoronously review your poster or display board and provide feedback on organization, layout, design, and content. We'll discuss how to highlight your most important findings, improve readability, and create a polished presentation that effectively communicates your research to judges and other audiences.
Competition Preparation
Speech Review (On Video)
$75
Prefer to practice on your own schedule? Submit a recording of your presentation, elevator pitch, or mock judging session and receive detailed, personalized feedback on both your content and delivery. I'll review your organization, pacing, clarity, body language, slide usage, and overall presentation style, while also providing suggestions on how to better communicate your research and engage your audience. This option is perfect for students who want thoughtful feedback and the flexibility to practice independently before presenting live.
Speech Review (Live)
$100 (60 minutes)
Practice presenting your research in a supportive, real-time setting. During this live Zoom session, you'll deliver your presentation or elevator pitch and receive immediate feedback on your speaking style, organization, confidence, and ability to answer questions. We'll work together on improving pacing, simplifying complex concepts, strengthening transitions, and refining your delivery so that you feel prepared and confident for competition day. This session also includes time for questions, revisions, and a second practice run if time permits.
Mock Judging Interview (Live)
$125 (60 minutes)
The best way to prepare for judging is through practice. In this session, I'll conduct a realistic mock interview modeled after the types of questions commonly asked by science fair judges. You'll have the opportunity to practice explaining your research via a live presentation and responding to challenging questions in a supportive environment. Afterwards, I'll provide detailed feedback on your responses, presentation style, and areas for improvement so that you can approach competition day with confidence.
